About
Welcome to Herb Is The Word
Hello. I’m Christine.

I live in Norfolk (UK) with my husband Ben and our two house bunnies, Maisie-Mae Hipperson-Jervis and Nimbus Nimbusson. Being ecologists, we have always had a love and appreciation for nature. Since buying our house with a small garden in 2016, we have strived to create our own haven for wildlife and ourselves.
We don’t use chemicals or peat and try to be as sustainable as we can, using no-dig principles to grow herbs, vegetables, fruit and wildflowers. We collect and save seeds, propagate our own plants and do whatever we can to encourage and support wildlife within our garden. We also love nature walks and to forage for wild food which we preserve as pickles, jams and alcoholic beverages.

I have such a love and enthusiasm for plants and wildlife that I wanted to share this through a blog and hopefully encourage others to love the natural world and, my biggest love, herbs. I am aiming to provide information on growing your own herbs, their benefits and uses, herbal remedies, recipes to try, plants to forage and gardening ideas for growing your own fruit and vegetables, and easy ways to encourage and look after wildlife.

I am by no means an expert gardener, but in sharing my experiences, successes and failures with others I hope to encourage a few more people to start growing and share and appreciate with me the wonderful magic of nature.

Maybe, Herb will become your Word too...
